Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Electrical supervisor is responsible for supervising & coaching the electrical and instrumentation department bargaining unit employees as directed by the electrical superintendent. He/She will contribute to ensure the reliability of the plant electrical & instrumentation system. Individual is also responsible to enforce plant safety, working rules and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Organizes and conducts weekly safety meetings of all shift personnel.
  • Organizes and supervises activities of bargaining unit personnel. The scope of supervision is focused toward electrical efficiency to ensure production efficiency
  • Documents shift activities on “daily activity” sheet.
  • Will be asked to attend various meetings.
  • Ensures that personnel supervised are properly paid and that they their overtime records are current and accurate (e-time).
  • Prepares written reports as required, e.g. safety meeting minutes, letters of recognition, etc.
  • Submit documentation to the appropriate personnel upon completion.
  • Education on the Automation cell of the plant will be required. Outside training might be necessary.
  • Provide electrical support, when needed, to production department during nights and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Industrial Electrical experience (5yrs)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide work direction
  • Exercise independent decision-making, prioritize conflicting demands.
  • Ability to formulate decisions, make and support recommendations, prioritize work, communicate with multiple parties and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Strong written/verbal communication, analytical and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in hiring, mentoring and coaching employees for success.
  • Able to work effectively as a valued team member within a diverse environment with all levels of personnel to include management and hourly employees
  • Exercise independent decision-making, prioritize conflicting demands.
  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English language, communicate positively with employees, customers and vendors at all levels.
  • Must be able to see and hear safety indicators and warnings.
  • Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty and near hot kiln process.
  • Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground).
  • Climb stairs and ladders as high as 400 feet in elevation.
  • Physical ability to climb on equipment to provide supervision during work.
