Summary and Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of counseling techniques as they relate to drug and or alcohol abuse, physical behavioral and emotional characteristics and manifestations of drug and alcohol dependency, and individual and group behavior. Ability to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with clients and other treatment team members. Can express ideas verbally and in writing for any necessary documentation.
Job Responsibilities: - Counselor will meet with newly assigned clients within twenty-four (24) hours of admission and review with the client at the time the initial Treatment Plan, all Releases of Information, Policy, Rules, and schedule of the Unit.
- Obtain data on the client's background and behavior, including Social History, Family history, and other psychosocial data to determine diagnosis, counseling needs, and treatment approach.
- Complete the Psychosocial History and Evaluation of each assigned client within the first week of admission.
- Employ the information gathered from the Psychosocial history and Evaluation in formulating an individualized treatment plan for each client.
- Provide individual and group counseling services to patients having drug and alcohol problems.
- Complete regular treatment plan updates clearly and concisely with measurable goals.
Qualifications: Must meet Department of Health (DOH) chapter 704 staffing requirements.
At least a Bachelor's Degree or CAC with 1-year Counseling experience; a Master's Degree preferred . Must have two years of working experience in the Human Services field. Experience working in the Drug and Alcohol Program is preferred. Prior training in ASAM and Confidentiality preferred
