\nTransdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Shop Manager for its Crescent City contract. The Shop Manager manages all activities of the Maintenance Department, including maintenance, servicing, and repairs of all vehicles at the assigned facility. \n

\n Responsibilities: \n

\n
    \n
  • \nSchedules employees for the department; ensures the effective supervision of mechanics and other shop workers; administers collective bargaining agreement provisions. \n
  • \n
  • \nStrives to maintain 100% PM compliance. \n
  • \n
  • \nSelects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel. \n
  • \n
  • \nCoordinates and verifies the quality of work performed by outside vendors. \n
  • \n
  • \nOversees the development of efficient repair schedules and reviews repair cost estimates. \n
  • \n
  • \nApproves priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and scheduled operation requirements. \n
  • \n
  • \nHelps to ensure that company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently. \n
  • \n
  • \nControls and monitors inventory. \n
  • \n
  • \nEnters Work Orders, Parts, and Purchase Orders into the electronic maintenance system (RTA). \n
  • \n
  • \nVerifies the accuracy of all shop purchases. Ensures all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly working. \n
  • \n
  • \nDevelops and implements safety policies and procedures for the department; maintains a safe working environment. \n
  • \n
  • \nParticipates in the development and administration of the operational budget. \n
  • \n
  • \nIdentifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods. \n
  • \n
  • \nEnsures that property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized. \n
  • \n
  • \nPerforms other related duties as assigned. \n

\n Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required : \n

\n
    \n
  • \nA High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). \n
  • \n
  • \nMust have a valid driver's license. \n
  • \n
  • \nMust have and maintain an excellent motor vehicle record. \n
  • \n
\n

\n Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred : \n

\n
    \n
  • \nASE certifications in heavy trucks and/or transit buses. Or the ability to obtain the ASE certification. \n
  • \n
  • \nA valid Class B Commercial Driver's License. \n
  • \n
  • \nA current DOT certification. \n
  • \n
\n

\n Experience Required : \n

\n
    \n
  • \nFour (4) years of recent experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment. \n
  • \n
    • \nA college degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience. \n
    \n
  • \nTwo (2) years of related supervisory experience. \n
  • \n
\n

\n Experience Preferred : \n

\n
  • \nBus or heavy-duty truck repair experience is preferred. \n
\n

\n Skills and Knowledge Required : \n

\n
    \n
  • \nComprehensive knowledge of diesel engines and/or internal combustion engines, propane engines, automatic transmissions, airbrakes, steering, and drivelines. \n
  • \n
  • \nPossess a basic understanding of the theory of electricity and also be able to read and understand wiring diagrams. \n
  • \n
  • \nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. \n
  • \n
  • \nWorking knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and the ability to utilize automotive software and programs. \n
  • \n
  • \nGood written and verbal communication skills. \n
  • \n
  • \nBroad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles. \n
  • \n
  • \nFamiliarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities \n
  • \n
  • \nAbility to read, interpret, and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. \n
  • \n
  • \nAbility to read schematics and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams \n
  • \n
  • \nAbility to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence \n
  • \n
  • \nAbility to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to detail. \n
  • \n
  • \nAbility to work effectively with labor unions. \n
  • \n
\n

\n Skills and Knowledge Preferred : \n

  • \nExperience with shop labor relations is preferred. \n
  • \n
  • \nASE certifications preferred. \n
  • \n
\n

\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, squat, and walk for extended periods; use hands and fingers to handle or feel small parts; push buttons; reach with hands and arms; use legs and feet to climb ladders and stairs and talk or hear. Must lift 50 pounds from the floor to bus; lift/carry 15 lbs. up to 100’; push/pull 50 lbs. up to 8’; torque 100 lbs. wheel lug; be able to climb or balance, kneel crouch or crawl, and smell; and move the steering wheel and operate pedals freely while seated in a bus seat.
