How Youll Make an Impact

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk ensures smooth shipping and receiving operations by processing purchase orders, maintaining inventory records, and verifying shipments. This role involves coordinating materials, managing stock, preparing shipments, and handling clerical tasks like data entry and document scanning. Accuracy, organization, and collaboration with other departments are essential for success.

What youll be doing as a Shipping & Receiving Clerk:

  • Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Simi Valley, CA location.
  • Process purchase order (PO) receipts and update records in the ERP system.
  • Distribute received items to the appropriate recipients.
  • Scan and file receiving and shipping documents into the ERP system.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by checking packing slips, manifests, and purchase orders.
  • Perform visual inspections of parts to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Assemble and prepare parts for shipment, ensuring proper packaging and labeling.
  • Generate purchase orders for outside processing (OSP) and maintain related spreadsheets and schedules.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records by performing stock transactions in the ERP system.
  • Conduct annual and cycle inventory counts to ensure stock accuracy.
  • Monitor packaging materials and submit order requests for replenishment.
  • Process and prepare shipping documents, including UPS/FedEx entries and bills of lading.
  • Communicate with carriers and coordinate deliveries and shipments.
  • Address and resolve discrepancies, shortages, or damages in shipments.
  • Assist front office staff with clerical duties as needed.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in inventory storage areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in using computers and ERP systems for data entry and document management.
  • Familiarity with warehouse procedures and standard office equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math for inventory and shipping calculations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures, including scanning, filing, and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with ERP systems, particularly JobBOSS, for inventory and purchasing functions.
  • Prior experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory management in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Understanding of job and lot numbers for accurate inventory tracking.
  • Familiarity with outside processing (OSP) procedures and generating related purchase orders.
  • Knowledge of standard packaging and shipping requirements.
  • Ability to manage daily shipping lists and order necessary supplies.

Work Environment:

A large percentage of work time is spent in a machine shop where temperatures vary from hot to cold. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $19 21/hr. commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
