Responsibilities Provide technical support, documentation, design, development, and evaluation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, including power supply and propulsion systems. Research and develop ship propulsion systems such as diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems. Develop system documentation and ship specifications. Design, develop, and evaluate marine vessel operation and shipboard propulsion machinery. Review and develop technical data packages. Oversee machinery arrangements and conduct trade studies. Maintain knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 6+ years of experience in developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and trade studies related to propulsion configuration. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (US Citizenship). Additional Information Salary range: USD $91,600 - $153,000 per year. Compensation depends on experience and other factors.
