JOB DESCRIPTION

Come join the Bay Area’s top rated news station! KTVU FOX 2 is seeking individuals that have a respect for journalism and want to be part of the station’s best in class reporting, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes! Be part of a winning team with a diverse culture that believes in supporting, mentoring, and training our staff. We are searching for a full-time news anchor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as one of the primary presenters of news stories, interviews, and other content for all TV and digital platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to news consumers.
  • Provide exemplary leadership in the newsroom, guiding junior anchors and reporters in pursuit of journalistic excellence.
  • Stay at the frontline of breaking news situations, taking on field anchoring duties when assigned, to deliver live reporting that captures the veracity of the moment.
  • Take charge of coordinating and producing compelling interview segments, ensuring content is informative and resonates with our diverse audience.
  • Spearhead special report coverage, constructing in-depth stories for TV, digital, and print platforms that shine a light on significant issues and reflect the concerns of the community.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional capacity for researching, reporting, and writing broadcast and digital print news copy that adheres to station standards, ensuring precision and clarity.
  • Independently create unique and compelling content for a variety of digital platforms, including streaming channels, social media, Connected TV apps, and other digital media.
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally to curate an individual and station social media presence, consistently engage with viewers, and explore new ways to build new audiences.
  • Actively pitch innovative story ideas that reflect the multifaceted nature of the San Francisco Bay Area, and passionately hunt for exclusive stories and scoops.
  • Engage with the community, building a network of sources that empowers our station to be the first to report on events, issues, and trends that matter to our viewers.
  • Participate in promotional activities including public appearances and community events on behalf of the station.

Qualifications:

A demonstrated track record of leadership roles within a top-tier newsroom and an impeccable on-air presence.

Proven ability to manage the pressures of a fast-paced news environment and produce content under tight deadlines while upholding the highest journalistic standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at writing clear and engaging copy for on-air and online platforms, including proficiency in AP writing style.

A comprehensive understanding of the digital news audience and the stories that resonate best with readers on KTVU’s various online platforms.

Fluency in various social media platforms’ trends, styles and language in order to authentically engage with audiences on each platform.

A strong portfolio of work that exhibits your ability to tackle complex stories, secure exclusive interviews, and connect with a diverse audience.

A willingness to learn new skills, pitch creative ideas, and adapt to change to help grow KTVU’s audience in the quickly evolving digital news landscape.

Preferences :

A deep connection to the San Francisco Bay Area is highly favorable—whether you grew up, attended school, or have previously worked in the region, we value your intrinsic understanding of our community and its stories.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in news broadcasting, with a significant portion anchored in a top 10 market.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

Bilingual abilities, specifically in Spanish or Cantonese, reflect the diversity of our audience and will be considered an additional asset.

Application Process:

As the leading station in the market, we anticipate a high volume of applicants for this prestigious role. Prospective candidates are urged to submit a comprehensive resume, a cover letter that captures your immediate impact on our team, a demo reel showcasing your finest on-air moments, and a portfolio of print reporting demonstrating your digital journalism expertise and understanding of best practices for online news platforms.
