Music Director
Salaried, part-time, approx. 10 hours / week
Compensation: $20,000; 3 weeks vacation
Music Director Position:
Harvest is looking for a Music Director (salaried position, approximately 10 hours per week). The Director would have leadership over music for Sunday worship and report directly to the pastor and indirectly the elders of the church. The person would be responsible for selecting, preparing, planning, and coordinating the music for our Sunday morning worship service, plus special services (i.e., weddings, memorials, Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Thanksgiving Eve, hymn sings, possible outreach, etc.).
While we have members gifted in leading occasional choirs and ensembles, this position would also oversee this and help coordinate offertory music. The congregation is very much a singing congregation, praising the Lord in song. The Director will help encourage this at Harvest.
We enjoy a traditional worship style (Prelude, Call to Worship, Invocation, Confession of Sin, Assurance of Pardon, Profession of Faith, Pastoral Prayer, Offertory, Scripture Readings, Sermon from God’s Word, Benediction—along with biblically-sound, congregational music, and special music disbursed throughout).
We use the Trinity Hymnal (Great Commission Publications, 1990) along with modern hymns rich in Scripture (“Getty – style” music), plus hymns sung to newer tunes, and occasional singable psalms. We have a Yamaha 6.2 feet Grand Piano and an Allen Renaissance Quantum (2 manual / digital) Organ.
The Director should be comfortable with either or both instruments. We also incorporate additional instrumentation at times—acoustic guitar, strings, brass, and hope to broaden our musical style and instrument selection in worship.
Our Sound Team projects CCLI licensed music on multiple screens, records the service, but also streams
the service live on YouTube and Facebook.
Our heart is to sing the Bible, pray the Bible, and preach the Bible, bringing glory to God in all that we do. We invite you to worship with us in person and / or online at:

• Ability to introduce new music over time, helping the congregation learn the music.
• Ability to encourage and cultivate a congregation that sings out to the Lord.
• Ability to avoid a performance emphasis in musical worship (Romans 11:33-36).
• Knowledge of voice; ability to develop and direct choirs and small voice ensembles over time.
• Ability to work with, encourage, and train additional music volunteers (singers, instrumentalists, etc.) Cultivate an atmosphere of using musical gifts God has given Harvest members.
• Encourage additional, approved instruments in worship (e.g. acoustic guitar, strings, brass, flute, cajon, etc.)
