As Idaho's capital, Boise serves as headquarters for several major national and international corporations. Boise offers a rich variety of both cultural and recreational opportunities. Idaho's world-famous fly-fishing, skiing, kayaking and hiking are all within easy access. Housing costs are moderate. Primary Duties: The successful applicant will be assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) in the Criminal Law Division. This is a sworn law enforcement position. This investigator will be responsible for investigating cases involving technology-facilitated crimes against children. These crimes include exploitation, enticement, and sextortion. The primary duties of this position include reviewing CyberTips received from electronic service providers, drafting and executing search warrants, conducting interviews, preparing reports, maintaining investigative case files, and testifying in court. Frequent travel throughout Idaho is required. The ICAC Unit is the lead agency of the Idaho ICAC Task Force, a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies who investigate and prosecute individuals that use technology to victimize Idaho children. Investigators in the ICAC Unit must be able to work well with other agencies. This work requires the investigator to frequently view graphic videos, photographs, and chat logs of child sexual exploitation for investigative purposes, such as to establish crimes committed and to locate evidence to be used in the identification/rescue of live victims and the prosecution of offenders. While experience investigating ICAC cases will be viewed favorably, do not let a lack of experience with ICAC stop you from applying. We have the resources to help make you an expert in all things ICAC if you come to us with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work. We prefer someone who is familiar with and up to date on technology generally, especially those who have shown an interest in technology-related investigations.
