Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee social media platform development in coordination with faculty and students
  • Synchronize the social media work of department work study
  • Oversee podcasting and greenscreen studio rooms (scheduling, facilitating use between stakeholders, filing relevant maintenance requests, basic upkeep)
  • Liaison between faculty, staff, service-learning clients for use of CollegeTowne media facilities
  • Produce content for the department in cooperation with department work study
  • Aid in the creation of content for department admissions and marketing events, the department's digital publications, and content that promotes events sponsored by the department
  • Facilitate documentation for departmental grant applications, when available
  • Coordinate with O'Pake fellows to determine and document best practices for CollegeTowne media resources

General Description of GA as Media Resource Supervisor

The graduate assistantship as Media Resource Supervisor is a critical position for ensuring a positive and engaging online presence for the communication and digital media department. Our departmental majors and minors are active in the University community as they serve as O'Pake Fellows, Marketing Interns, and leaders in service-learning projects for local businesses. Their work is highlighted in our departmental publications and social media channels. However, the work of our majors and minors only tells part of the story. The Communication and Digital Media Department is also a service-oriented department in that we provide writing program and media resources and training to students/faculty in other disciplines through the use of podcasting rooms, the CTowne computer classroom, and greenscreen studio.

The 21st Century requires community outreach in the form of vidcasts, podcasts, blogs, social media posts, infographics, broadcast news coverage, narrated slidedecks, etc. The Media Resource Supervisor assists the department in meeting the needs of the University community through media facility oversight and reservations, technology training, and social media outreach using a variety of web-based platforms.
