This involves creating scientific articles, 'Data in Action' stories, use cases, and outreach materials that demonstrate the value of GES DISC datasets. The role also entails analyzing scientific research utilizing GES DISC data, supporting user inquiries, and understanding data usability issues. The broad areas of responsibility are: Scientific Content Development: Create scientific articles and use cases highlighting GES DISC data applications. Develop 'Data in Action' stories, news articles, and Jupyter Notebooks showcasing real-world applications. Ensure all content is accurate and aligns with NASA standards. Synthesize Journal Articles: Review and summarize high-impact scientific studies using GES DISC data. Analyze publication trends and user engagement to identify emerging research areas. Collaborate with scientists to understand data needs and success stories. User Support and Outreach: Respond to user inquiries regarding data access and tools. Create user guides, tutorials, and FAQs. Engage with the scientific community via webinars, workshops, and presentations. Track metrics related to data requests, access issues, and feedback. Communication and Collaboration: Work with the User Needs team, including scientists and data developers. Stay updated on Earth science data management and visualization strategies. Present materials at workshops, meetings, or conferences as needed. Minimum qualifications include: M.S. in atmospheric, earth, or environmental sciences or related fields, with 3+ years of remote sensing experience supporting satellite data. Familiarity with programming languages (Python, R), geospatial tools (ArcGIS, QGIS), and data formats (netCDF, HDF). Experience in scientific writing and communicating complex concepts clearly. Ability to analyze and summarize scientific research. Experience supporting Earth science data users and creating instructional materials. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Experience with Earth science data repositories or geospatial platforms. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency with at least 3 years of US residency. Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA.
