Your Role: As a Front End Software Engineer within our Payments development team, your time will be spent be architecting and building scalable user experiences with a hard-working group of full-stack engineers, product managers, and business leaders. You will own building new features that will directly and impact millions of customers and their furry partners every day within a fully Agile environment. Software Engineers within our Payments organization play a hands-on role in driving innovation, scalability and maintainability, and resolving critical development issues. Above all, you will act as a leader and a mentor who gains the trust and confidence of those around them, from peer engineers to technology executives. What You’ll Do: Design, develop and implement large scale distributed systems with large volumes of data focusing on scalability, latency and fault tolerance. Architect, build, deploy and scale front end Payments Single Page Applications Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to team and customers, and act as technical point of contact to collaborators, taking responsibility and ownership of project timelines and work Build Systems / Component architectures and APIs for a rapidly scaling platform, while ensuring successful product delivery and operational quality. Pursue engineering quality, leading platform level initiatives such as Kubernetes migration, building true CI/CD pipelines and building our applications into a true Payments as a Service implementation Own and operationalize the critical metrics for Payments, building industry leading telemetry/logging to resolve state and health for the applications you own Lead research and initiatives for cloud native designs and implementation within public clouds, primarily AWS. Build enterprise architecture and influence coding standards (scalable, performant, readable, and tested code) and ensure your code reviews set the bar for the rest of the team Display excellent verbal and written communication and be able to convey dissenting opinions in a constructive manner, particularly written communications Offer mentorship and guidance for peers and more junior engineers Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams What You’ll Need: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience 7+ years of professional front-end development experience 7+ years of hands-on experience crafting and developing scalable, high-performing, and fault-tolerant applications for large enterprises 5+ years of experience building large-scale products using frontend technologies using React/JavaScript/ES6/Typescript/CSS 3+ years of software engineering experience with Java or other Object-Oriented Programming languages 3+ years of experience in the Payments domain, with a good understanding of payment processing, wallet management and integrating with 3rd party payment processors. Hands-on experience building micro-services, micro-frontend, SOA, and working in a public cloud environment (AWS) Expertise in measuring, evaluating, and tuning application performance Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & standard methodologies for the SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations The position may require travel Preferred: Experience in e-commerce or Healthcare Experience with accessibility testing Experience in ReactJS, VueJS, or AngularJS Experience with Selenium, Cypress, or similar automated testing tools Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tools
