See Required Application Materials section for more information General Description: The Dean of Academic Transfer manages and leads an instructional area that includes the following programs within the Division of Instruction: Arts and Humanities, Math and Education, Social Sciences, Physical, Life, and Sport Sciences, and Honors. The Dean of Academic Transfer supervises several direct reports, including: an administrative assistant, program chairs, faculty (full-time and adjunct), and instructional support staff. The Dean must be a service-oriented leader who is skilled in relationship and partnership building, as they will support instructional operations across multiple programs and sites, as well as establish and foster offsite opportunities. The Dean of Academic Transfer must collaborate effectively and efficiently with other instructional deans. Essential Functions: The following functions and responsibilities will be accomplished by working with the Instructional Leadership Team, as well as chairs, coordinators, faculty, and staff in the Academic Transfer Area: Leadership & Supervision Provide college-wide transformative leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Academic Transfer Area, in alignment with the institution's mission and accrediting bodies. Supervise and manage the following programs: Arts and Humanities, Math and Education, Social Sciences, Physical, Life, and Sport Sciences, and Honors. Build cohesion between the Academic Transfer programs, creating wrap-around support for programs across divisions. Develop and maintain relationships across areas and with community partners, such as local school district leaders, to ensure ongoing cooperation and collaboration. Implement a continuous improvement culture that leverages course survey data, quality assurance feedback, faculty and instructor feedback, and other sources of input. Establish and implement the Area's mission, vision, and objectives to ensure alignment with the institution's Strategic Plan . Collaborate with the other instructional areas. Manage, schedule, supervise, and evaluate all Area employees. Develop and implement policies and procedures that lead to quality instruction and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and interagency regulations. Provide leadership and guidance in the implementation and maintenance of Phi Theta Kappa, Undergraduate Research, and Honors. Build relationships with faculty and staff to effectively administer institutional projects, grants, and initiatives. Participate in and provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff in the Academic Transfer Area. Fiscal Responsibilities Prepare recommendations for and administer the area's budget. Provide management oversight for all existing area grants. Assorted Responsibilities Remain current in national, regional, and local trends related to academic transfer programs. Develop a technologically integrated environment. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to promote programs. Seek out opportunities for new programs, collaborations, partnerships, and grants. Lead and support faculty and staff in efforts to promote equity and diversity through instruction and programming. Promote sustainable opportunities for instructional wrap-around services in support of student retention and completion. Institutional and Community Service Participate on college committees. Represent WWCC by attending standing meetings. Provide leadership and mentorship for faculty. Participate in college activities. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: Supervise and manage the following programs. Supervise program chairs who facilitate and coordinate faculty reports. Works in partnership and collaboration with the VPI Leadership Team. Delegation of tasks, responsibilities, and decisions as appropriate. Budget Authority: Responsible for oversight and delegation for the Academic Transfer area budget. Prepares recommendations for and administers the area budget. Required Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the applicant with the knowledge and skills to perform the job may be considered by the college. Master's degree in the Humanities, Math, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Computer Sciences, or other applicable disciplines from an accredited institution. Three years' teaching experience in a higher education setting. Three years' experience in higher education leadership. Demonstrated experience in addressing diversity, inclusion, and equity issues. Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience teaching in a variety of modalities. Proficient in various technology systems. Preferred/Desired Qualifications Doctorate Degree in applicable discipline. Five years' teaching experience in a higher education setting. Bilingual, especially in Spanish/English.
