Job Description

The Computer Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware issues for laptops, desktops, and related peripherals. This role also includes software troubleshooting, resolving issues related to operating systems and applications. The technician ensures optimal performance of systems by providing comprehensive repair and maintenance services.

Responsibilities :
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues for laptops, desktops, and peripherals, including but not limited to: hard drives, motherboards, power supplies, memory, and displays
  • Perform repairs, replacements, and upgrades for faulty components, ensuring systems meet performance standards
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS) and software applications
  • Perform system recovery, reinstallation, and software updates as needed
  • Image machines with appropriate operating systems, ensuring proper setup and configurations.
  • Assemble, repair and troubleshoot high-end desktop builds and custom builds
  • Provide technical support to end-users, resolving both hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair and service activities
  • Communicate effectively with users, explaining technical issues and solutions in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and benchmarking, using software to properly test computer components for failures
  • Focus on productivity and turnaround time SLAs, while maintaining a high level of quality
  • Test systems to ensure successful repair and proper functionality
  • Collaborate with other IT team members on more complex system-related issues
  • Leverage OEM support portals (such as Dell TechDirect) to initiate warranty parts or update repair status
  • Provide cross-departmental updates on system repair status as requested
Skills and Specifications Required:
  • CompTIA A+ certification or similar preferred
  • Previous working experience as a computer technician for 2 years
  • Experience working with Dell TechDirect
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware for both desktops and laptops.
  • Experience working with high-end desktop components.
  • Strong software and OS troubleshooting skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage repair tasks
Physical Requirements, with or without accommodation:
  • Ability to frequently stand, sit, walk, and bend
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
