Job Description

Our client, a nonprofit in the Boston area, is looking for an Associate Director of Prospect Research to join their team. This role compensates up to 37/hr depending on experience, and could have permanent potential.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new prospects based on wealth indicators, philanthropy, and connection, conducting screening projects and analyzing results.
  • Create detailed and confidential profiles on individuals, foundations, and corporations using a variety of research resources, ensuring accuracy and clarity for executive briefings and event preparations.
  • Assess giving capacity and assign prospect ratings through financial research and analysis, developing strategies for annual support, endowment, and special project funding.
  • Maintain and update the CRM database with new research information, monitoring media sources and leads to uncover additional details on prospective donors.
  • Oversee temporary research staff and support team members with Development Research responsibilities, staying current on best practices and emerging trends in philanthropy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with 5-7 years of experience in development research, prospect management, fundraising and/or equivalent, preferably in an arts, higher-education, or other non-profit environment.
  • High level of proficiency with fundraising databases and research tools; demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize high volumes of information.
  • Ability to accurately interpret financial data from a variety of sources.
  • Strong writing skills. Must be able to draft concise research documents with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive to changes and shifting priorities.
  • High degree of professionalism and ethical sensitivity. The ability to handle confidential information with discretion is essential.
  • Knowledge of Tessitura or other CRM databases is desirable.
